Shepard through the years by iichna Shepard through the years by iichna
Sorry, no page today!

As the title implies, this is what my Shepard has looked like trough the years/the mass effect games. I thought it'd be a good idea to draw all the "versions" of her since I keep jump between her appearances whenever I draw her outside of the comic. It's confusing why she has longer hair in one picture and then short again in another :P. I'm mostly doing this for myself since I have a tendency not to be consistent.

--
ME1: Shepard has a greater attitude about things, and feel generally good about herself. She's proud to be a part of N7 and the Alliance, and of all of her cuts and bruises. She still likes to be feminine and trims her eyebrows and use makeup like any other person.

ME2: She has become more stern and cold because of the involvement of Cerberus, and because she's afraid of showing too many emotions as Cerberus could potentially use it against her. Since she woke up earlier than expected from the Lazarus project, her hair and eyebrows hasn't grown out to the length they used to be. All the scars and eye bags she had in ME1 were wiped out, making her look younger than she is.

ME3: Tired and worn, the war has gotten the better of Shepard. She has let her hair grow and doesn't bother about making herself look good anymore. She still tries to keep up a facade to the people who rely on her to save the galaxy, but she's become way worse at holding it up. Only a certain turian knows how to get her on a good mood again... :3

This is also me trying to get back drawing in Photoshop. I've used SAI for so long I've forgotten how much I love the brushes and how they blend in Photoshop. Also sorry about the backgrounds... While I was the one who took them in game, they belong to Bioware.

Hey I admin a FB page called Mass Effect Female Shepard - www.facebook.com/FemShep

I'd love to post this to our albums! It's so nice to see a non-standard FemShep and I love this idea you had of "through the years" showing how events have changed her, as seen by the wrinkles on her face as it were. I think if ever you or another artist did a more true-life piece like this, it could be haunting. As it is, your piece is pretty damned powerful on its own.

Anyway I'd love to post it to our albums one day if you're willing. I'd include reference to you as artist and a link to your original here in the photo caption. What do you think?

OK! Just posted today. Here's a link to where your picture is now: www.facebook.com/FemShep/photo… - by the way I wrote a little story for it myself, but I've also noted that you've got your own, and that people should go check it out (I've noted you as author and provided a link to your original here). :) Thanks for giving permission to share!

I'm so honored you'd write that story! Thank you, Emily (I hope I got your name right)!

Yup. That's me!

I don't always give my name out... Sometimes I find allowing people to discern my gender, disempowers me a little. It's nicer for people to read stuff (e.g. my fanfics) I write then go, "Whoa... the writer's a girl?! But she wrote Zaeed like..." LoL. I'm glad you liked the story!

I'm using writing as therapy at the moment. I mean... I guess everything I write is therapy, after a fashion - I've had a few things in my life that were less than pleasant to go through and like an artist is drawn to the page, I am drawn to create various things. Music, art, stories... Anyway when it comes to trauma, I have tales and interpretations, viewpoints and advice I try to share, and I try to reinforce my own following and understanding of, through writing.

I'm just glad you didn't feel like I was stepping on your toes! I really liked *your* ideas for your picture, and the sort of short summary story *you* came up with for your Shepard. :) I just wanted to use your creation as an opportunity to get some things off my chest, as it were, through writing. So the honour is all mine.

Ah, I see. It makes me sad people take such consideration of what gender one is, instead of looking at what the person has accomplished.

I can sorta relate, it's good to have something to turn to when times are rough <: The way you write is great!

(I'm sorry if I've written anything weirdly, or if I misunderstood you. My native language isn't English and sometimes I'm clumsy with my words)

Thank you! Oh and I wish more native English speakers adopted the humility that non-native English speakers like yourself always seem to have. I find your writing quite comprehensible - easily assumed to be native english in my eyes. But it's always good to hold onto that doubt that maybe not everything you want to say you get across with what you say or write. If more of us thought that way on general principles, I think there would be a lot less hurt feelings in the world! LoL! :)

I love your description. It just makes sense and adds a bit of behind-the-scenes psychology to her.

And yeah, I'm one of those people who fiddled a bit with the fan-made modding tools - not just bc ME3's import bug screwed up both the face and the colors, but bc somewhere along the way I decided to give my favorite fem!Shep gray hair... As a result she had 3 different colors through the trilogy (brown in ME & ME 2, black at the beginning of ME3, gray after Mordin's decision). I can upload the screenshots if you like since I'm not half as good at drawing with anything as you ;)

Haha yepp, played around a lot in the editor as well :) just couldn't seem to get the right skin color, not the right green eye color I wanted in game. And the default hair styles just didn't really match how I wanted her to look.

I'd love to see your Shepard!

Ohh, boy... It's taking me a lot of time. I have the screencaps, I know where they are, but... finished uni, found a job, lots of stuff happening. I'll do it... soonish ;p Sorry for the delay, my life deserves a speeding ticket ;) Check sometimes, might pop up this month.
